Rolling Mill Rolls

We provide the best imported Rolling Mill Rolls in India.

Our SG Iron is of superior quality, imported, and performs better than any locally produced rolls.

Maximum per pass life, accurate geometry, exact chemistry, metallurgy and high hardness treatment. It has the best surface finishing and shine on the rolled material.

TC Rolls are used in Block Mills and Cantilever Stands. High Hardness, Wear Resistance, Long service life, and High efficiency allow it to be used repeatedly in Tungsten Carbide rollers. It reduces expense and significantly improves efficiency.

High Speed Steel Rolls

High Speed Steel Rolls

High-speed steel has a significant amount of Mo, V, Cr, and various other alloying elements. Tempering martensite is distributed with MC, M2C, and M6C high-hardness eutectic carbides, providing outstanding high-temperature wear and thermal cracking resistance. At the same time, the anti-rough surface type is quite effective. In hot-rolled circumstances, the high-speed steel surface wear-resistant oxide coating, friction properties, and strip surface quality plays an important role.

WHY CHOOSE HSS ROLLS OVER OTHER ROLLS?

The greater hardness of the shell, which enhances wear resistance, and the higher temperature resistance quality, which results from a higher concentration of Cr, Mo, W, and V in the composition, are the primary attributes of HSS rolls. Now, these traits finally result in the benefits listed below during the rolling process :

1) Better Quality: Because HSS rolls have a stronger wear resistance characteristic than DPIC or SG iron rolls, there is less frictional effect during each pass, which results in better rolled product over an extended period of time. The tenure may be easily translated into the measurable volume of rolled product.

2) Increased Machine Availability: Because HSS rolls have a stronger wear resistance capability, they can produce goods free of defects for longer periods of time. As a consequence, there will be significantly more machine availability and less machine downtime. This tenure is now closely correlated with a certain machine maintenance measure called MTBF (Mean time between failures).

3) Increased production: By influencing the machine’s operating parameters, less downtime and higher quality raise daily production. Since machine efficiency is now known to be equal to productivity times availability times quality, replacing traditional cast iron, DPIC, or SG iron rollers with HSS rolls might result in an overall improvement.

SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE IRON ROLL

Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls are casted from a specific type of iron compound where the free carbon takes the shape of spheroids or nodules, thereby eliminating the notch effect of flake graphite and improving upon the mechanical properties of the cast iron. These are of mainly following types:

Pearlitic Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls:

Pearlitic spheroidal Graphite rolls have a thick layer of cast iron with nodular graphite. The name of such a roll is based on the fact that the material consists of nodular graphite and carbides in a pearlitic matrix. The softest grades have a pearlitic matrix containing ferrite around the graphite nodules, while the higher hardness grades have a complete pearlitic matrix. The Carbide content increases proportionately with the hardness. The hardness is covered in quite a big range, from 40 degrees shore C to 70 degrees shore C depending on the rolled product or as per customer requirement.

Acicular Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls:

Acicular spheroidal Graphite Rolls also have a thick layer of Cast Iron with nodular graphite. Here, the name of such a roll is based on the fact that the material consists of nodular graphite and carbides in a pearlitic – bainitic matrix. The carbide content is considerably higher in the harder grades than the softer ones. The hardness range varies from 60 degrees shore to 80 degrees shore.

Tungsten Carbide

Introduction

Tungsten Carbide is a compound composed of tungsten and carbon. Its excellent physical and chemical properties make it widely useful in industry and everyday life.

Physical Properties

Tungsten Carbide is a black hexagonal crystal with a metallic luster and hardness similar to diamond. The compound’s microhardness is 17300 MPa, the elastic modulus is 710GPa, and the compressive strength is 56MP. It is a good conductor of electricity and heat, which makes it very useful. However, pure tungsten is fragile, so a small amount of titanium, cobalt, and other metals is added to reduce its brittleness.

Characteristics

The following are some of the characteristics of Tungsten Carbide:

  • High Hardness
  • Wear Resistance
  • Long service life
  • High efficiency

Chemical Properties

Tungsten Carbide is insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid, or sulphuric acid but easily dissolves in a mixture of nitric and hydrofluoric acid. This compound has a weak anti-oxidation ability, which starts its reaction in the air at a temperature above 500 °C. Nevertheless, it does not interact with chlorine below 400 °C.

Uses

Main uses

  • High-speed cutting turning tools
  • Kiln furnace structural materials
  • Jet engine components
  • Cermet materials
  • Resistance heating elements

Manufacturing Sector

  • Cutting tools
  • Wear-resistant parts
  • Smelting crucibles for metals such as copper, cobalt, bismuth
  • Wear-resistant semiconductor films

Unique Features

Structural Strength

Binding tungsten and carbon form an extremely dense crystal structure called hexagonal crystal. Its Young’s modulus is approximately 550 GPa, nearly twice of steel.

High Hardness

The Mohs’ hardness of tungsten carbide is “9”. It is equivalent to Corundum and second to diamond.

Resistance

Thermal Capability

Tungsten carbide is highly capable of withstanding heat up to 1,649 °C (3,000 °F), making it an optimal material for cutting tools at high temperatures and speedy environments.

Oxidation

Oxidation begins at approximately 300 °C, while the reaction occurs at around 700 °C, which makes it oxidation-resistant.

Chemical

Tungsten Carbide is highly resistant to most chemicals. However, it dissolves in nitric acid.

Reactivity

Tungsten Carbide reacts with chlorine at 400 °C and reacts with fluorine at 18 °C.

Applications

Tungsten Carbide Rings are used in the manufacturing of mill rolls & wire flattening to increase the life span of applications. Their extreme durability makes them suitable for crafting wire rod finishing blocks and shaping materials.

  • Tungsten Carbide Rolls are required by steel mills and are divided into four categories:

1)    High-speed wire rod roll.

2)    New generation high-speed wire rod hot-rolled roll.

3)    New generation high-speed wire rod review roll.

4)    Cold rolled three-dimensional roll.

Tungsten Carbide Rolls have great thermal conductivity, high wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. It also reduces the depth and width of hot cracks in the groove during rolling.

  • The latest generation of high-speed wire rod hot mill roll has higher impact resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, and high wear resistance compared with high-speed wire hot rolling roll, making it suitable for high-speed wire rod rolling at speeds over 100 m/s.

Moreover, the new generation composite rolls reduce the number of grooves and roll to change, reduce labour intensity, improve labour production efficiency, improve the surface quality of rolled products, and increase the percentage of finished products. This helps reduce costs and obtain remarkable economic benefits.

  • Tungsten Carbide roller can be used repeatedly, reducing expense and significantly improving efficiency.
