Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls are casted from a specific type of iron compound where the free carbon takes the shape of spheroids or nodules, thereby eliminating the notch effect of flake graphite and improving upon the mechanical properties of the cast iron. These are of mainly following types:
Pearlitic Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls:
Pearlitic spheroidal Graphite rolls have a thick layer of cast iron with nodular graphite. The name of such a roll is based on the fact that the material consists of nodular graphite and carbides in a pearlitic matrix. The softest grades have a pearlitic matrix containing ferrite around the graphite nodules, while the higher hardness grades have a complete pearlitic matrix. The Carbide content increases proportionately with the hardness. The hardness is covered in quite a big range, from 40 degrees shore C to 70 degrees shore C depending on the rolled product or as per customer requirement.

Acicular Spheroidal Graphite Iron Rolls:
Acicular spheroidal Graphite Rolls also have a thick layer of Cast Iron with nodular graphite. Here, the name of such a roll is based on the fact that the material consists of nodular graphite and carbides in a pearlitic – bainitic matrix. The carbide content is considerably higher in the harder grades than the softer ones. The hardness range varies from 60 degrees shore to 80 degrees shore.

- Raw material inspection is conducted by an Inductive Coupled Plasma Emission Spectrometer (ICP).

- Final dimensional inspection by CMM.
